DECODABLE SENTENCE STRIPS
The sentence strips build upon one another. Therefore, there will be no words that a child has not learned the special sound for if the strips are completed and practiced in order.

The special sound for each set is noted in red every time it appears. All other special sounds are expected to have been mastered (if strips are completed in order).

These strips follow the phonics sound order we do in class.

GOAL: To be able to read the sentences with minimal to no sounding out of words.
Is your child's reading choppy? Try this take on a Reading Pyramid using the sentence strips from above the correlate wonderfully with our Abeka curriculum.
This activity will help with several aspects of reading:
-
help your child follow along
-
help your child hear good reading fluency
-
help your child read hard words without the stress of reading whole paragraphs or pages
BONE WORDS
Bone Words are simply our fancy way of saying sight words...words a student should immediately recognize without sounding out.

Kindergarteners should know most of List 1 by the end of kindergarten. In first grade we will learn Lists 2-4. We will spend the first few weeks reviewing List 1 though.
